For fans of romantic thrillers, this movie offers the thrill of the chase along with strong love interest.

The protagonist is New York Congressman, David Norris,  played by Matt Damon. The plot finds Norris working on his second attempt to be elected to the United States Senate in 2010, having failed in his previous campaign in 2006. During that earlier campaign, he meets Elise Sellas (Emily Blunt), and the two share a kiss.

In 2007, Norris’s 2010 campaign for senate is in full swing. He catches a bus to work, bumping into Elise, having not seen her since their kiss, but he has no idea that the ‘Adjustment Bureau’ are about to change his life. Their agent misses his first chance to contact Norris, and he arrives at his office to find strange men with his campaign manager, Charlie Taylor (played by Michael Kelly). Seeing them, Norris makes a run for it and is captured.  The men tell him that they are ‘caseworkers’ for the Adjustment Bureau, run by the mysterious ‘Chairman’. The Chairman is in charge of a grand plan which determines people’s lives. Norris is subsequently released and threatened with a lobotomy if he tells anyone about the Bureau.

Three years later, Norris encounters Elise again and the Adjustment Bureau attempts to keep them apart; this involves a race across town. The Bureau uses special doors that help them move quickly around town. They‘re-set’ Norris’s brain and he later learns that how he behaves can greatly effect those around him. His only course of action, to avoid hurting Elise, is to abandon her.

After a series of events, Norris finally catches up with Elise again, having heard that she is about to marry someone else. Just before the wedding is due to take place, they find themselves caught up in another exciting chase.

The film ends with the Chairman’s plan revised, and, hopefully, Norris and Elise can write their own plan, and control their own destinies.

The Adjustment Bureau DVD is an exciting movie and one not to be missed.
